Are You Random? — The Oracle

A tiny mind reader based on Scott Aaronson's famous oracle: press Left and Right in whatever "random" order you like, and a 5-gram predictor learns your patterns and forecasts every next press before you make it. Against a true coin it can never beat 50% — against humans it typically climbs above 60%, sometimes 70%. Watch its accuracy grow, try to fool it, and see exactly which of your habits betray you.

Runs 100% in your browser — nothing you generate leaves your device.

Notes

  • The oracle looks at your last five presses and predicts whatever most often followed that exact pattern before. No neural network, no magic — a lookup table beats humans.
  • Humans alternate too much, avoid long runs, and fall into unconscious rhythms like LLRR or LRL. A fair coin produces a run of five or more in almost every hundred flips.
  • Play at least 100 presses before judging: below that, accuracy bounces around by luck alone. Anything consistently above ~55% after 200 presses means the machine has found structure in you.
  • Everything runs locally in your browser; nothing you enter or generate is sent to any server.
